Join us for an exhibition of work from the Hand and Machine Lab’s Experimental Clay Residency Program. In the summers of 2022 and 2023, Hand and Machine hosted master ceramic artists in our lab for three-month residencies, collaborating to create new ceramic artifacts and technologies. The residency is designed to be mutually beneficial. The artists are introduced to new technologies, including clay 3D printers and custom software we are developing in the lab. Lab researchers, meanwhile, have an opportunity to deepen and expand their understanding of clay–technically, creatively, and practically. This work is supported by the National Science Foundation’s Future of Work program under Grant No. 2026218.

Featuring work by artists and researchers: Jared Tso, Camila Friedman-Gerlicz, Jeff Suina, Monica Silva Lovato, Leah Buechley, Fiona Bell, Amy Traylor, Deanna Gelosi, Erin McClure, Adam Padilla, and Ruby Ta
