My name is Andrea Torres, I am a undergraduate student majoring in Computer Science with a minor in mathematics. This is my last semester and I will be graduating come December.  When I first started college I originally wanted to either major in art or mathematics, yet some how I became a CS student. One project that caught my attention was funded by by <strong>Karlsruhe Institute of Technology<\/strong>. The designers focused creating structures out of sustainable materials that can be used in replace of traditional materials that will hold the same structural integrity as say concrete and rebar. The designers use fabrication to wind willow branches into patterns that have structural reinforcement by utilizing an \u201cadaptive weaving\u201d approach, t earth is then pumped strategically in between the weaved willow branches to create sections. Finally and what I find to be the most important part of the design is the reusability within the project is the connection of the fabricated pieces. With reversible screws each sections can be repurposed and reused whether that be in a different design or composted. This project is fascinating because it not only utilizes natural materials but also aims to eliminate waste, reduce carbon emissions, and enhance the reusability of the materials involved.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Personal Introduction Hi!
