I enrolled in this class because I\u2019m excited about the opportunity to explore 3D printing, which I\u2019ve never tried before. Instead of using common materials like plastic, metal, or resin, the <strong>Creative Machines Lab at Columbia University <\/strong>has developed a project that uses<strong> 3D-food printing<\/strong> to create customized, healthy desserts, such as vegan cheesecakes. The researchers used computational methods like <strong>algorithmic design<\/strong> and <strong>digital modeling<\/strong> to experiment with different ingredients and create intricate, multi-layered desserts tailored to specific dietary needs. By applying principles similar to those in architecture, they achieved both stability and flavor harmony in their designs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What I find most compelling about this project is how it showcases the transformative power of computational design to enhance everyday experiences, like simply enjoying a meal. The ability to personalize food at such a detailed level<strong> <\/strong>opens up<strong> <\/strong>exciting possibilities<strong> <\/strong>for healthier eating and nutrition tailored to individual needs.
