Throughout the class I have learned a ton about modeling, coding, and printing, so I want to exhibit those attributes in my final project. I am going to create a collection of gifts including 3D printed flowers and a map of downtown Vancouver CA.

Team Members: ME

Deliverables: (small) 3D map of downtown Vancouver as well as 3 printed flowers (unsure of what flowers I want to do)

Week 1 (Nov 18 – 22): I think the map is going to be the focal point of this project so I really want to get going on a design in rhino and have at least a mapping by the end of the week.

week 2 (Nov 25 – 29): While I print the map and make adjustments as needed, I will start working on the algorithms and modeling that I will be using to print my flowers. I’m thinking that I might just make the bulbs instead of trying to print a small stem, but I am not 100% sure on this.

week 3 (Dec 2 – 6): Week 3 is going to be mainly printing, making small adjustments, and adding more detail. By this point I really want to have the designs done and focus on printing so that if any errors occur, I have plenty of time to fix them.

References:

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8341294 – map

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/297920659_3D_Printing_Raised_Relief_Topographic_Maps_A_Cartographically_Sound_Method – topographical map

https://www.darlenefarris.com – artist/professor that prints nature esc 3D prints.

I took this class because I was interested in 3D printing, but didn’t know a whole lot about the subject.
