Final Project Update

I have made significant progress on my robotic arm and have even started fabricating test designs for some parts.

Attached is a parts list for all the hardware, electronics, and 3d parts I will need to acquire/design. Luckily I already own all of the hardware/electronics I need for this project that are left over from other personal projects I have done.

Below are some (very crude) sketches of what I wanted to do for the design of the arm. All parts I’m building will be based off these designs:

I also attached of a photo of another arm I found online that inspired my design:

For 3d modeling I was struggling to design parts in a way that I could get measurements very precise with rhino. I opted to instead use FreeCad to streamline the process. Below is an initial design I made for the servo mount for the base:

I printed this model, which unfortunately didn’t turn out as well as I hoped due to warping on the base. I figured out it was caused by me moving my 3d printer next to my pc. The pc fans were pulling heat away from the print bed causing it to cool quick and warp. However, the rest of the model came out good and is shown below:

I am still on schedule for my timeline with the remaining time being:

Nov 25-29: 3d part design and assembly

Dec 2-6: electronics and software

My deliverable is still a functional robotic arm.
